White Bluff voters approve alcohol

On the liquor issue in White Bluff to permit retail package stores to sell alcoholic beverages in the city passed 656 votes to 583 votes. Also in White Bluff, legal sales of alcoholic beverages for consumption on premises passed by a vote of 643 to 588.

Dickson County Election Commissioner Robert Qualls said he believes that Dickson County set a record for voter turnout.

“This election has brought a much larger turnout based on recent history,” Qualls said. “This has been the biggest election in the past two decades. There’s been a lot of general discussion amongst the general public that typically aren’t active and aren’t typically engaged in the process. They’ve been talking about it in their daily conversations for the last few weeks.”

Volunteer pollsters didn’t waste any time getting their precious cargo – the votes – to the Election Commission Office in Charlotte and election officials didn’t waste any time in getting the results out.
